Accessing medical cannabis clinics in Queensland

The Queensland CA Clinic is located in Belmont, just east of the Brisbane city centre.

Accessing prescribed medical cannabis in Queensland requires patients to meet some qualifying criteria, therefore the clinic does not accept walk-in appointments. In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought about a change in consultation structure. CA Clinics has catered to its Queensland patients by replacing face-to-face consultations with online, telehealth consultations to ensure that they get the same quality of care they need from the safety and convenience of their homes.

To make the process simple for Queensland, we have easy to arrange complimentary Screening Appointments. This involves a brief evaluation of a patient’s condition to assess if there is evidence supporting the use of medical cannabis treatments for their symptoms, and confirms if they’ve tried other conventional treatments prior to seeking medical cannabis.

What does a medical cannabis telehealth appointment look like?

If you are not yet familiar with telehealth, you’ll find it to be very similar to being in your doctor’s office. Telehealth appointments are conducted over the phone or via video call. The doctor or nurse will ask you questions about your medical condition and case history.

They will then describe the options available that are relevant to you and which symptoms they might benefit, as well as explain the timeline of the application for TGA approval.

As the doctor cannot conduct any physical examinations – like blood pressure, listening to your breathing or palpating areas of concern – they may ask a few more questions of you or your regular medical practitioners to ensure they have a strong understanding of your individual case and can offer the most suitable treatment options.

Telehealth consultations remove some of the barriers to accessing healthcare for those with whom mobility, time constraints, geographic location or health status makes it difficult for them to access medical treatments.
